Prince Harry gets a hero’s welcome in town that dubbed him ‘the warrior’
Prince Harry has received a rock star reception in a small mountainous village, as new details were revealed about the Sussexes feud with the Beckhams. See stunning photos.
You could be mistaken for thinking Prince Harry was the ‘King of the Mountain’ during his trip to South Africa.
The Duke of Sussex was flanked by villagers as he posed for photos on a mountain top in Matlameng – Ha Mahlehle in the Leribe region of Lesotho.
The 40-year-old royal is on a whirlwind solo visit of the country with the charity Sentebale, his first visit to the region since “stepping back” from royal duties in 2020.
Sentebale, meaning “forget me not” was created by Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in 2006 to help children and adolescents struggling to come to terms with their HIV status.
Lesotho is a small landlocked Kingdom in southern Africa which currently records the second highest rate of HIV/AIDs in the world.
The two Princes reunited in Lesotho on Tuesday local time in the country’s capital city Maseru.
Harry also dined with Prince Seeiso’s niece Princess Senate Seeiso during the visit.
“Had a pleasure of hosting a lunch today,” the Princess captioned a photo of her with Harry.
Harry spent two months in Africa during his gap year in 2004.
On Wednesday, the Duke of Sussex was at a central London hotel close to Buckingham Palace and less than an hour’s drive from brother Prince William’s home.
A spokesman for Harry declined to comment on whether any family meetings were planned. But he did not meet the King, William or any other royals.
His latest trip comes after he made a brief visit to the UK at the WellChild Awards.
He told young kids and their families: “Thank you for your courage, your perseverance, your kindness and of course your humour.
“And thank you for being you and uplifting all those around you. The WellChild Awards is an event that never fails to inspire me.”
It comes as Prince Harry and Meghan’s longtime publicist Ashley Hansen is leaving their company Archewell to launch her own consulting firm.
The well-respected PR stepped down on Thursday, according to Page Six, after working for the couple for more than two years.
Ms Hansen had been working under the royal couple as their global press secretary and head of communications.
But despite the exit, the PR guru will continue to represent and advise the Sussexes, as well as provide oversight to their international communications team.
WILLIAM AND BECKHAM UNITE
Prince William stepped out with David Beckham amid speculation of a feud between the Bckhams and the Sussexes.
The Prince of Wales invited the former England football captain to see a new $A15.4 million helicopter donated to the London Air Ambulance Charity at RAF Northolt on Tuesday local time.
They also picked up permanent markers to sign a door on one of the new helicopters.
According to People, William’s message read “Back in the middle,” and Beckham wrote, “Thank you. Fly Safe Love David Beckham.”
Beckham said he was proud to support a charity that has made such a difference in the neighbourhood where he grew up.
“Being here today is to celebrate the success of the fundraiser and the incredible money that we generated, but also to celebrate what these guys do and to meet the medics,” he said.
“As an East End boy, I’ve seen these in the air for many, many years and I know the work that they do-the incredible work that they do. It was just an honour to be invited by Prince William to be involved in this.”
William flew rescue helicopters for the RAF from 2010 to 2013 and worked as a pilot for East Anglia Air Ambulance service from 2015 to 2017.
Beckham was once so close to Harry that he was among the guests at his wedding to Meghan Markle in 2018.
However, the Beckhams have since distanced themselves from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
And according to distinguished biographer Tom Bower, Meghan was the reason.
“She wanted no competition in the media from David,” he wrote in his book, Revenge.
“It seemed she was not prepared to tolerate anything flattering regarding the Beckhams and the Games to appear in the media.”
Daily Mail columnist Richard Eden said media leaks were behind the Sussex-Beckham feud.
he write: “And after Meghan moved into Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace, Victoria, whose fashion label was expanding into beauty products, gave her advice on make-up and a member of her staff provided her with help on facials and hairdressing. Free of charge, of course.
He continued: “When news of the Beckhams’ generosity made the Press, however, Meghan was said to be outraged. The Beckhams denied that they had leaked any information but hyper-sensitive reportedly Harry and Meghan became distrustful of them.”
