Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children ‘snubbed’ in surprise Coronation twist
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet were dragged into the family feud after it was revealed the King’s grandchildren would be overlooked for a key coronation role.
Prince Harry may have called Camillia “the villain”, but if he attends the coronation he will have to bow to her as Queen and see his kids replaced by her grandkids.
The Queen Consort is expected to be crowned simply as the “Queen” after a coronation edition of the Bible leaked showing the “Consort” dropped from Camilla’s royal title.
In what is being called a “victory lap” for the stepmother smeared in the memoir Spare, her five grandchildren are said to have been given official roles in the coronation while the King’s grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have not.
The starring role would elevate the grandkids of the non-royal lineage into the King’s inner circle, above the two youngest royals in the US, in what would be a blindside to Prince Harry and Ms Markle, according to reports.
The five grandchildren, aged between 13 and 15 years old, would hold a golden canopy over King Charles as he’s anointed with holy oil by the Archbishop, which takes place just before the investiture and crowning.
“Camilla never asked for any of this. But Charles always wanted her to be queen,” a friend of Camilla told The Daily Beast. “Lots of people doubted he could pull it off but he has, and including her family in the coronation is something of a victory lap for both of them.”
It was also said to come as a surprise to Prince William, with the Beast reporting the heir is not particularly close to Camilla’s two children, food critic Tom Parker Bowles, who has two children, Lola, 15, and Freddy, 23, and gallerist Laura Lopes, who has three, Eliza, 15, and twins Louis and Gus, 13.
Their surprise inclusion would follow on from Camillia’s elevation to “Queen”, as indicated by a new edition of the Bible being released to commemorate the Coronation, reported by the Mirror.
“To commemorate the Coronation of their majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla. In the Abbey Church of St Peter. Westminster. The sixth day of May 2023,” the Bible says.
It’s unclear when King Charles decided to change the title of Camilla, who wasn’t initially expected to lose the “Consort” after he became Monarch. But he is known to be highly protective of his wife, who was a major focus of Prince Harry’s ire in the memoir, Spare, and his subsequent media blitz.
“She was the villain, she was a third person in the marriage, she needed to rehabilitate her image,” Prince Harry told CNN to promote sales of his book. “The need for her to rehabilitate her image … that made her dangerous.”
