Aussie cops stinging hidden hotel bill in Bali after getting tattoo
An Australian woman on holiday in Bali got a huge shock after getting a tattoo. See the hidden costs of getting inked.
An Australian woman on holiday in Bali was in for a rude awakening after getting a tattoo in the Indonesian province.
“Be careful guys if getting tattoos while in Bali,” the woman warned on the Bali Bogans Facebook page.
“We got them Thursday and I accidentally got ink on quilt cover in motel. They charged me $65.”
Luckily, her husband was able to wash the ink out with soap and water, which ensured she got her money back.
“So remember, with soap and water the ink will come out, as $65 for them to clean is very steep,” she advised.
Other people responded to the original poster with their own horror stories.
“I got charged $127 for a full set, so I asked if I got to keep the sheets... the looks on their faces... then I had to fit an extra 2 kilos (sic) in my already overflowing bag! Upside - after a bleach, comfy hotel sheets at home,” said one.
“Our hotel has a poster in the lift saying they will charge 150% of stay if linen gets tattoo ink stains,” said another, obviously showing this is an ongoing issue for Bali hotels.
A number of people advised getting cheap sarongs to tie around the tattoo or to wear long sleeves in order to avoid stains on the bed sheets.
Others said to take the stained sheets to the laundromat or ask the hotel for old sheets to put over the quilt.
One of the respondents had a different approach, admitting, “I turned the mattress around and re-made the bed.”
