Why people can’t get into the Henty Field Days today
People have been turned away from the Henty Machinery Field Day after the event reached full capacity.
People have been turned away from the Henty Machinery Field Days after the event reached full capacity this morning.
The return of the event after a two-year hiatus due to Covid, and a public holiday, have created a massive crowd at the event in southern NSW, which could take no more visitors this morning.
Gates were closed about an hour ago.
A Henty Machinery Field Days spokesman said the event was full “and with regret we have to close our gates due to public safety concerns”.
“All of our car parks are full and the roads are blocked in many directions,” the spokesman said.
“This is a totally unprecedented move and we regret not being able to accommodate you this year.”
Traffic jams were reported to stretch as long as 20 kilometres to get into the event and some people reportedly queued for more than two hours before being turned away.
