HIGH winds wrecked centuries-old woodland in parts of Victoria at the weekend.
Farmer Matt Cleve (below) lost hundreds of old trees after gusts tore through Lancefield, felling gums that he thinks could be up to 200 years old.
The trees had provided shelter and shade for livestock, he said.
“We thought maybe we should offer free firewood but there’d be about 9000 tonnes of it,” he joked.
