ST ARNAUD appears to have received the best of Victoria’s overnight rain totals with 20mm.

Nhill and Kaniva’s 15mm was next best.

Thunderstorms dumped more rain in smaller, local areas with Murrawee, north of Swan Hill, believed to have had a big dump of almost 20mm, accompanied by fierce winds.

Swan Hill’s overnight total was 9mm.

Dimboola recorded a welcome 12mm by 9am today.

Wedderburn had 10mm and Boort 8mm.

Edenhope had 7mm and Charlton 6mm as the storms swept across the west last night to also bring relief from a heatwave.

The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting the possibility of even better totals today, but again from hit and miss storm systems.

Hamilton and Mortlake had 5mm, Bendigo 4mm, Kilmore and Sale had 3mm.

The bureau’s rain predictions centre on higher falls in the east of the state, particularly Gippsland over the next week.
