ONE of Premier Daniel Andrews first acts upon re-election has been to carve up Victoria’s mega Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources.

It’s been tough enough for most Victorians to recall the meaning of the DEDJTR acronym, but now they face a new tongue twister.

DEDJTR will be split in two, creating a new Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions or DJPR for short, which will cover agriculture, fisheries and forestry.

The Premier has also transferred all the Government’s road and rail infrastructure work into a new stand alone Department of Transport, simply known as DoT, which will also cover boating.

Meanwhile the Department of Justice and Regulation, which has always been known as DoJ is to be renamed the Department of Justice and Community Safety or DoJCS, in a bid to show the Government is acting on one of the few election issues the Coalition managed to gain traction on in the lead-up to the November 24 election.
