A woman remains in a critical condition in The Alfred hospital following a bus rollover which killed a 40-year-old Echuca woman.

Emergency services were called to Murchison-Violet Town Rd, Arcadia South about 2.30pm last Thursday after a bus which had senior citizens on board left the road and rolled.

Ambulance Victoria confirmed on Monday one woman in her 60s had been airlifted to The Alfred in a serious but stable condition, while another woman in her 50s was airlifted in a stable condition.

The hospital has since confirmed one patient is now in a critical condition, while the other is stable.

Following the crash, a number of other people were also taken to hospital.

“A woman in her 70s was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition,” an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said.

“Three men and two women in their 70s were taken to Goulburn Valley Health, all in a stable condition.”

The driver was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Monday afternoon, police said the exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and the investigation is ongoing.

A VICSES spokesman said Shepparton search and rescue teams were at the site of the wreck.

Police are preparing a report for the coroner.
