A crowd of between 5000-6000 is expected to descend on Victoria’s High Country this weekend for the 2024 Merrijig Rodeo.

Anna McPhee, who runs McPhee Rodeo Company with husband Garry, has been involved at Merrijig for more than 30 years, and said there’s “just something about the bulls” that bring the crowds in.

“The crowd is just always on the edge of their seat, and just can’t wait for something else to happen,” Anna said.

“With a really good announcer and a really good bucking stock, people just like watching that.”

Anna and Garry will be supplying 58 horses and 30 bulls for the event, while their daughter Dusty will be competing in the Open Barrel Race in what is the 48th year of the rodeo.
