Mary-Anne Thomas launches TAFE training review
The future of agriculture training including in the TAFE sector is going under the microscope. See what the review will cover and who will lead it.
A state review to identify how vocational training institutes can meet the needs of Victoria’s agriculture sector will be announced today.
State Agriculture Minister Mary-Anne Thomas is launching The Future of Agriculture Training in Victoria Review in Rokewood this morning.
The review will be led by Buninyong MP Michaela Settle, who has been a TAFE student and owned and operated a family sheep farm in Ararat for more than a decade.
“We are positioning our agriculture sector as a career of choice and giving the next generation of farmers the skills they need to tackle challenges of the future,” Ms Thomas said.
Government ministers said the review aimed to ensure agriculture training remains innovative and relevant and understand the factors involved in student choice.
Ms Settle said she looked forward to leading the review into statewide vocational training.
“As a former farm owner and TAFE student, this is a really exciting opportunity to use my experience to help shape the future of an industry that means so much to our community and to our whole state,” she said.
