CFA equipment stolen in East Gippsland

Police are investigating the theft of equipment used in the recent firefighting efforts in East Gippsland from the Sale fire station.

EQUIPMENT used in the recent battle against bushfires in East Gippsland has been stolen from Sale CFA.

Police were told offenders cut a rear fence to gain access to vehicle and trailer storage at the back of the CFA station on Raymond St, between 3pm yesterday and 9am this morning.

A new Honda generator and 60-inch AKAI LCD flat screen television for community education were stolen, with extensive damage to locks on the trailer the equipment was stolen from.

“It’s so disappointing to see, after all of the hard work and devastation from the recent fire events across Gippsland that people would target CFA,” district 10 operations manager Shane Mynard said.

“The community education trailer that was hit has been used over the past six months engaging with community and tourists across Gippsland.

“The trailer is used as a one-stop shop to engage people about fire safety and local incident information.”

Anyone with information, including those who may see the items for sale online, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online.
