Tributes have flowed for a Central Victorian livestock agent and community football stalwart who passed away earlier this month.
Family, friends and colleagues are mourning the loss of a beloved Central Victorian livestock agent and community football stalwart who passed away earlier this month.
F.P Nevins and Co director, livestock agent and auctioneer Chris Nevins was farewelled on Thursday at the St Mary’s Catholic Church, Inglewood. Mr Nevins died on Monday, January 13 aged 65.
A renowned livestock agent throughout central and northern Victoria, Mr Nevins was a third-generation livestock agent and auctioneer with F.P Nevins and Co for almost 50 years. He worked alongside fellow directors and cousins James and Luke.
Following his passing the Bendigo Stock & Station Agents paid tribute to Mr Nevins, who was a former president of the organisation.
“The Bendigo Stock & Station Agents are saddened at the sudden passing of Chris,” the group said.
“He was a much respected president, agent and friend and will be sadly missed at the saleyards.
“Our thoughts and deepest sympathy to Jack, the Nevins family, Luke, Jamie, and all at FP Nevins & Co.”
F P Nevins was established 1923 when founder Frederick Patrick Nevins purchased Thomas Morrow & Co, Auctioneers.
Chris Nevins, the son of John F Nevins, joined the F P Nevins & Co sales team in 1979.
Mr Nevins also served as president of the Loddon Valley Football-Netball League’s Inglewood FNC.
“Chris (Boo Boo) will be sadly missed by all at the Club, and within the Inglewood community,” the Inglewood FNC said in a social media post.
“The smiling face at the gate of our home games over many decades, Chris always had a welcoming word for everyone.
“A loyal clubman, he was our auctioneer extraordinaire over many fundraising events, and took great pride in supporting the Club in any way he could.
“This dedication was recognised when Chris was awarded a Life Membership. Our Club simply won’t be the same without his big smile and personality.”
