100 cases in Cedar Meats abattoir coronavirus outbreak
Melbourne’s coronavirus outbreak at abattoir Cedar Meats has hit 100 cases.
THERE are officially 100 coronavirus cases linked to the Cedar Meats outbreak.
One more person linked to the Melbourne abattoir tested positive to the virus yesterday, taking the total number of cases in the cluster to 100.
Of the 100 cases, 64 are Cedar Meats staff.
It comes after no new cases were recorded on Sunday for the first time since the abattoir closed on Friday, May 1.
Cedar Meats resumed some operations this week, but a question mark remains over when the abattoir will begin receiving livestock.
About 20 staff returned to work at the Brooklyn site to operate its cold storage facility on Monday.
“Cedar Meats is working with DHHS (the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services) to plan how it moves forward with reopening the rest of its operation,” a company spokeswoman said.
There have been 1573 coronavirus cases in Victoria.
