Goondiwindi mother Tina Kathleen Hazard, 37, and Darling Downs man Lachlan Mark Freund, 26, will face trial before Toowoomba Supreme Court in May next year for the alleged murder of Thor Morgan.
Mr Morgan, a 25-year-old Toowoomba man, was allegedly shot in the head while driving a car down Ruthven St near a Harlaxton schoolyard on March 15, 2022.
Police allege Mr Morgan was tracked by Mr Freund and Ms Hazard in a utility vehicle before Mr Freund fired several rifle rounds at him.
Despite his grave injuries, Mr Morgan walked to his girlfriend’s home where an ambulance was soon called.
Taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, surgeons were unable to remove the bullet from the brain with Mr Morgan succumbing to his injuries two months later on May 16, 2022.
The trial over Mr Morgan’s alleged murder is set to commence on May 18, 2026 before Justice Catherine Muir in Toowoomba Supreme Court.
On Wednesday, the court was advised the trial would likely proceed over seven to ten days with a large amount of circumstantial evidence to be examined.
Mr Freund has been held in custody since his arrest in the months after Mr Morgan’s death, with Ms Hazard also awaiting trial in custody.
Neither defendant has entered a plea to the charges they face.
Mr Freund is charged with murder, arson and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
Ms Hazard is charged with murder, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlawful possession of a weapon.
