The organisers of the Upper Murray’s biggest event are defying the Covid doom and gloom

by staging an agricultural field days for the first time in April.

The Man from Snowy River Bush Festival at Corryong was one of the few large scale

events of its type to proceed last year when it dodged rolling coronavirus lockdowns.

Pre-Covid the festival attracted more than 12,000 people with the inaugural field days to be

held on the first two days of this year’s festival starting on April 7.

The field days will be held at the former Corryong Primary School grounds in Donaldson

Street.

Festival general manager Jenny Boardman said the field days concept had origins in talks

with event sponsors with an approach to Towong Shire for in-kind support being presented to

councillors on Friday.

“We think it should work and are looking for sponsors, stall holders, the whole kit and

caboodle to make it happen,” she said.

The Upper Murray field days will avoid the major Henty event which will return in 2022 after

two years wiped out by coronavirus.

“Our festival is a pretty broad event, from art shows to music to horse events,” Mrs

Boardman said.

“The Upper Murray is an agricultural area so we should showcase it when we can.

“We are leaning on the fact we know we are going to have a crowd there to create the

awareness of it.”
