IT IS less than a month until Tasmania's biggest rural event.
IT IS less than a month until Tasmania's biggest rural event.
Agfest will be held on May 2-4 this year and preparations are well under way.
Members of the volunteer committee have been involved with regular working bees at the Quercus Park site in Carrick over the past few weeks as the site begins to take shape for this year's event.
More than 700 exhibitors will be included again this year and as usual there will be something for everyone.
Marquees for exhibitors are already going up out on site and the committee has been working hard on improvements.
Some of these include fence rebuilds, a 4WD revamp, site line marking and a refreshed equine arena.
New this year will be a food-truck Park along with the Scouts Tasmania climbing tower.
Junior competitors will also take part in the livestock handling competition, which is back again after last year's successful inaugural event.
For the craft and fashion enthusiasts there will be more than 150 craft exhibitors spread across the five craft sheds, as well as the annual Ag Artwear competition using farming materials.
Adventure seekers will also have plenty to see with the MAST boat show and the four-wheel-drive track.
For younger members of the family there will be the Kids Ag Awareness Program and foodies will be catered for with the dairy expo and the Unique Tastes food and wine pavilion.
Farmers will enjoy the beef expo, working sheepdog trials and the heritage farming and machinery display.
