A woman has been charged with assault and property damage after an incident at one of Adelaide’s busiest shopping centres.
A woman has been charged with assault and property damage after an incident at Elizabeth Shopping Centre on Friday.
Police were called to the centre at about 11.30am after a 69-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by a woman unknown to her.
The victim, from Elizabeth East, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Centre security officers detained the suspect, a 40-year-old woman from Elizabeth East, in the carpark until patrols arrived.
The woman also allegedly caused damage to shop stalls within the centre before the alleged assault occurred.
The suspect was arrested and charged with assault and two counts of property damage. She was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court in January.
The incident comes after a teenager was rushed to hospital with serious stab wounds following a wild knife fight at the same shopping centre in October.
Three teenage boys were arrested following the altercation, which erupted in the centre’s food court on October 23.
A 14-year-old boy was charged with affray while a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old boy was charged with assault causing serious harm and affray.
