Troy Jacka, 53, identified as Munno Para West shooting victim as trio arrested
The identity of a man who died after being allegedly shot with his own gun in Adelaide’s north has been revealed – as police arrest three people for an incident believed to be related to the shooting.
The identity of a 53-year-old man killed in a shooting at Munno Para West on Saturday can be revealed.
Troy Jacka died late on Saturday night after allegedly being shot by a gun in his possession at a house on Stebonheath Rd around 11pm.
According to SA Police, a struggle occurred between two men at the house, after one of the men made threats with a firearm.
A 31-year-old man from the house is assisting police with their inquiries and the gun was recovered nearby.
As a result of ongoing investigations into the incident, police arrested two women and a man in relation to a report of a disturbance that occurred on the same night at a hotel on Main North Road, Smithfield.
The Smithfield Hotel on Main North Road declined to offer any comment on Monday when asked by the Advertiser about the trio that had been arrested.
This disturbance is believed to be linked to the Munno Para West shooting incident and the trio were served a three-month liquor licence barring order, excluding them from the hotel and were bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on September 9.
A 21-year-old woman from Blakeview was arrested and charged with affray and act likely to cause harm, a 22-year-old woman from Munno Para West and a 31-year-old man from Campbelltown were both arrested and charged with affray.
No charges have been laid in relation to the actual shooting
It comes as people have taken to social media to pay tribute to Mr Jacka.
“This man was an amazing dad and grandfather,” a friend of the family wrote on Facebook.
According to 7NEWS, Mr Jacka and his son were at his ex-girlfriend’s house, when police believe the gun went off accidentally during a scuffle.
Mr Jacka died at the scene.
Neighbours told The Advertiser they heard a sound like a car crash before a gunshot.
One neighbour said he ran to the scene where he saw a car in the driveway and a person lying in front of the garage.
“I’d seen a car up the driveway. It was smashed, the fence obviously smashed in, and then a body in front of the garage, not moving,” he said.
“(He was) curled up, and then all the blood was right there in front of him.”
On Sunday morning, a patch of blood could be seen outside of the garage door.
Another neighbour who asked to remain anonymous said she heard a crash and screaming and initially thought it was a car accident.
“But then when I heard the gunshot, then I thought different,” she said.
“I just told everyone to stay inside and just get down.”
Police said anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
