More than 12,000 new homes across South Australia are closer to being constructed, after the state government announced a new initiative for three major land releases sites.

The Infrastructure Schemes initiative from the Housing Roadmap, will see greenfield development sites at Concordia, Sellicks Beach and Murray Bridge delivered faster with the essential infrastructure to support new communities.

The new scheme will oversee the construction of roads, intersections and bridges, stormwater management infrastructure including culverts and detention basins.

As well as, drains and earthworks connected with infrastructure, and communications networks.

Potential developers, landholders and the respective councils will be engaged for future decisions in helping to shape the greenfield development sites.

Landholders and the councils will also be consulted on the draft Infrastructure Schemes, later this year – during the same time as public consultation on the code amendments for Concordia and Sellicks Beach.

The sites at Concordia and Sellicks Beach were part of the state government’s record land release, in a bid to boost the supply of residential land to combat the ongoing housing crisis.

Both sites are now in the rezoning process, with Concordia set to build around 10,000 new homes, while Sellicks Beach will boast up to 1700 new properties.

Murray Bridge is expecting up to 1100 new homes across three precincts, with the scheme working alongside the Residential Growth Areas Code Amendment.

Sites at Onkaparinga Heights and Dry Creek are also part of the land releases, with rezoning

and signed infrastructure deeds for housing in the area already completed.

The Dry Creek development site will need extensive infrastructure planning as part of the code amendment, as it finalises its rezoning process.
