See the new Village Green-style area for SACA members at this year’s Adelaide Oval Test match between Australia and India

Adelaide Oval has upped its offering for those heading to the day-night Australia v India Test, with the additions certain to whet the appetite.

Crash's theory to dismiss India phenom

Cricket fans will be spoiled for choice at the Australia v India Test match starting on Friday with an expanded members area and a two-storey wine bar among the new offerings at Adelaide Oval.

South Australian Cricket Association members will benefit most with a second Village Green-style space in the Lindsay Head Terrace Bar, overlooking the city on level 5 of the Riverbank Stand.

For the first time, the top level of that stand will be dedicated to SACA members, who will enjoy lobster rolls, paella and oysters, alongside ‘Fast Track beer bars’ – new automated machines designed to reduce waiting times.

Over behind the western grandstand, the traditional Village Green zone is bigger than ever before, with a new two-storey wine bar complete with terrace seating on the top level, plus an expanded range of food and drink options.

Old favourites such as the Pimms and Champagne tent will be back, as will the Fashions on the Village Green competition, which will be held on Saturday of the Test.

Bumper crowds of up to 40,000 a day are expected to attend the much-anticipated day-night fixture, which begins on Friday.

SACA chief executive Charlie Hodgson said they were “delighted” with the new additions to the Oval.

“We have the biggest cricket membership in the world, so we were very keen to provide additional member-specific areas to compliment our other wonderful offerings,” he said.

SACA member Hannah Douglas-Hill said the Village Green was her favourite spot to soak up the atmosphere of the Test match.

“My friends and I love the Village Green so it’s great to have another space with amazing food, drinks, atmosphere … plus this incredible view of Adelaide,” she said.
