A woman armed with a machete was chased down by the police after an alleged robbery in Adelaide’s north west.

A machete-wielding woman has been arrested after allegedly inflicting terror on staff at a service station in Port Adelaide on Monday.

The woman, armed with a machete, allegedly entered a service station on Grand Junction Rd and demanded money from the staff just before 3pm.

The 31-year-old woman from Munno Para allegedly stole items from the store and fled, without injuring anyone.

Police were quick to respond and arrested the woman, who was still in the area, recovering the machete.

According to 9News, the woman allegedly threatened officers with the machete after a chase ensued, causing them to draw out their tasers.

A witness, Harry Clark, said it was the first time he’d seen something like that.

“Cops ran across the grass, she ran across the road, and obviously they got her,” he told 9News.

Mr Clark said it looked like the alleged offender stole skittles and M&Ms.

“Probably not really worth it, but each to their own,” he said.

Officers also located a taser after searching the woman’s bag.

She is expected to be charged with aggravated robbery and weapons offences later today.
