Para Hills woman wins $100,000 on Scratch-Its after reinvesting Powerball winnings
A northern suburbs woman says she and her partner hope to travel after netting a huge win off an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
A Para Hills woman has struck lottery gold, turning a $50 Powerball win into a substantially bigger prize.
The lucky woman won a $50 Powerball prize, and made the decision to use the money on several instant Scratch-It tickets, with one of these tickets netting her a whopping $100,000.
“It’s still very surreal,” she said.
“I’ve been walking around smiling and shaking my head for the last couple of days.”
“I’m stuck in a daze.”
The winner said her partner initially suggested keeping the Scratch-Its to use as gifts.
“I didn’t listen to him and decided to scratch a few while I had a cup of coffee,” she said.
“If it were up to him, we would’ve been putting the winning ticket in a birthday card and never seeing it again.”
She said she spent “half the day” checking over the ticket, and that there’s “lots of things” she’d like to do with the money.
“I think we’ll look to do something practical first and foremost.”
“Maybe a bit of travel next year.”
“I think we’ll do a trip we never would’ve done otherwise.”
The winning ticket was sold at the Redwood Park IGA.
In 2024 there were more than 25.6 million wins across all prize tiers on Instant Scratch-Its in Australia, with total prizes exceeding $251 million.
