Man arrested after worker slashed with broken glass in convenience store robbery at Wright St, Adelaide
A man has been arrested after a window was smashed and a convenience store worker was slashed with broken glass in Adelaide’s CBD.
A city worker has been slashed with broken glass during a robbery of a convenience store in the CBD overnight.
Police were called to Corner Convenience on Wright St just before 8.30pm on Thursday after reports of a man entering the store and stealing items.
The man soon returned, broke a window and assaulted the store worker with a piece of broken glass, causing a laceration to the hand, police said.
Officers searched the area and found the suspect on West Tce.
A Yalata man, 25, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, theft and property damage. He was bailed and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in August.
The victim did not require medical attention.
The robbery comes after a woman was arrested after she allegedly assaulted police in front of dozens of onlookers in Rundle Mall on Thursday.
The 46-year-old Glenside woman was arrested after foot patrol officers in Rundle Mall were alerted to a woman allegedly hassling members of the public and causing a disturbance.
She was also charged with disorderly behaviour and assaulting a prescribed emergency worker.
Last week, a 20-year-old woman was left with facial injuries after a random attack by a man in the early hours of the morning in the CBD.
In January, police called for improved support services in response to a series of violent disturbances in the Adelaide CBD, which saw 12 people arrested in just hours.
