A 68-year-old Lower Mitcham man has died in a single-car crash in Echunga

Emergency services were called to the area after reports of a crash at about 5.30pm on Monday.

A 68-year-old man has died after crashing into tree in the Adelaide Hills on Monday evening.

Police were called to Kavanagh Rd in Echunga after reports a car slammed into a tree just before 5.30pm.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but the man, of Lower Mitcham, died at the scene.

Major Crash officers attended to determine the cause of the crash.

Kavanagh Rd was closed to all traffic between Battunga Rd and Shepherd Rd, but has since reopened.

The man’s death is the 32nd life lost on South Australian roads this year.
