A young man, who was allegedly spotted driving erratically in a stolen car has led police on a chase overnight.

The 22 year old from Ingle Farm man will face court after allegedly stealing a car and petrol in Adelaide’s northern suburbs on Friday night.

Hours after it had been allegedly stolen from a home in Paralowie, SA Police patrols spotted the Kia Hatch on Harriet Court in Salisbury Plain, just after 10pm.

Police allege the vehicle had been involved in a fuel drive off and had been seen by members of the public driving erratically earlier on Friday evening.

The driver fled on foot as officers approached the car and was tracked by PolAir as he attempted to escape through nearby backyards, police allege.

The area was cordoned off as police entered a backyard on Fenden Rd where the suspect was arrested. The vehicle was towed away for forensic inspection.
