A 58-year-old motorcyclist has died in a horror crash in Adelaide’s southern suburbs, after he collided with a car at a notorious intersection on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred about 2.20pm on Lonsdale Rd, at Hallett Cove.

Ambulance workers were seen administering CPR to an individual at the scene before the area was covered with blue tarpaulin.

Sadly, despite the efforts of paramedics, the motorcyclist, a Sheidow Park man, died at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 76-year-old Hallett Cove man, also sustained injuries in the crash and was taken to hospital.

Patrick Bale who lives directly across from the crash scene said he left his house and found the emergency response under way.

“We’ve had that many accidents in this place, it’s not funny,” he said, adding that his letters to politicians pleading for better safety measures had been ignored.

“It had to happen. Sooner or later some was going to get killed, and they’ve done nothing.”

A number of ambulances and police cars – as well as a fire service vehicle – were sighted at the scene.

Major Crash investigators attended and examined the scene.

Police said the road is expected to remain closed until later this evening.

Motorists were urged to take an alternate route if possible, with northbound traffic on Lonsdale Rd now diverted onto The Cove Rd.

The rider is the 34th life lost on South Australian roads so far this year.

On Monday, a sleepy Adelaide Hills community was rocked by tragedy after a 68-year-old Lower Mitcham man was killed in a crash that left a tree scarred and debris strewn across the grass.

The crash unfolded just before 5.30pm on Monday along Kavanagh Rd – a normally peaceful stretch used mostly by locals – shattering the quiet in the small town of Echunga.

While on Tuesday, an 80-year-old man died in hospital from injuries he sustained in a two-car crash north of Adelaide on Sunday, which saw three people rushed to hospital.

Police and emergency services were called to the intersection of Angle Vale Rd and Stebonheath Rd, Kudla, to reports of a crash between a Ford SUV and a Hyundai sedan.

The occupants of the Hyundai, a 75-year-old woman and her 80-year-old male passenger from Waterloo Corner, together with the driver of the Ford, a 44-year-old Gawler West woman were taken to hospital for treatment.

However, the passenger of the Hyundai, died in hospital.
