Drink drivers encouraged to film their drunk driving exploits to be posted on Instagram

An Instagram account has been condemned by SAPOL for promoting ‘reckless driving’ across SA.

An Instagram account is under fire from the police for promoting followers to “drink, drive and drift”

The description of the now-deactivated account reads “Send clips. Will blur photos. upload n tag”, urging drivers to film their drunk driving exploits with the promise of anonymity

The account, along with several other accounts that have surfaced in recent weeks, feature videos filmed across Adelaide in the hills, shopping centres and carparks.

Police have condemned the social media accounts for encouraging drivers to be reckless on SA roads.

This comes after new ‘posting and boasting’ laws introduced last month.

Possible penalties include prison time for up to two years for activities that include violent acts, illegal activity involving motor vehicles, use of weapons or taking, damaging, destroying, removing, using, interfering with or entering property.

These laws apply regardless if the person posting the content was the offender.
