A cool change has swept across South Australia, bringing showers for most parts of the state for the first time in weeks. But will it last?

After a scorching week, South Australia has some relief with a splash of rain falling for the first time in weeks.

On Wednesday, Adelaide claimed the title of being the hottest city in the world after reaching the top of 43.3C – but finally a cool front has come across the state.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast Adelaide on Friday to reach the maximum temperatures of 25C with a few morning showers, as well as some stronger winds.

On Saturday, temperature will continue to drop to 23C with heavy cloud cover.

Meteorologist Christie Johnson told The Advertiser the cool change will continue to sweep across the state for the next few days.

“The cool change has moved through all of South Australia now,” she said.

“We are seeing a few showers around this morning but we expect the rainfall totals to be pretty low – just a couple of millimetres – mostly in Adelaide Hills, southern Fleurieu Peninsula, and Kangaroo Island.”

However, Ms Johnson said despite the cool change there were still fire danger cautions in place.

“The gusty winds coming through at the moment pose a potential threat,” she said.

“Although we understand the fire threat is at the low end of the scale.”
