Car running red light at Salisbury North causes crash, footage caught on dashcam

Dashcam footage has captured the moment a car runs a red light and causes a multi-car pileup north of Adelaide.

Police are investigating after a driver was captured on camera running a red light moments before ploughing into another vehicle at Adelaide’s north.

The shocking crash, caught on dashcam footage, shows cars driving through the intersection of Main North Rd and Park Tce at Salisbury North, around 6.10pm on Monday, after the light turns green.

Just seconds later, the footage captures a Ford sedan slamming into the side of a Mitsubishi.

The Mitsubishi is spun around and both cars are sent veering into other vehicles waiting at the intersection.

Police and emergency services rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a multi-vehicle crash and three cars were eventually towed from the scene.

A Salisbury East woman, 26, driving the Mitsubishi and her 24-year-old passenger, also from Salisbury East, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Ford, a 49-year-old from Craigmore, was not injured.

An investigation into the incident continues and any witnesses are being urged to contact police.
