Beachport Brewing Co. at Beachport on SA’s Limestone Coast, set to close down
A popular waterfront brewery will shut its doors for good in coming weeks, in the latest blow to the state’s hospitality industry.
The owners of a popular waterfront brewery on the Limestone Coast have announced they are closing their doors due to “circumstances beyond their control”.
Beachport Brewing Co. in the seaside town of Beachport, will shut down in coming weeks, almost three years after the business launched on the town’s iconic jetty.
The brewery’s owners shared the sad news on their social media accounts, thanking the public for their support.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closing of our brewery. After much consideration, and due to circumstances beyond our control, we are sadly closing our business,” she said.
“We have faced many challenges along the way that has made it increasingly difficult to continue trading.
“We want to thank every customer, staff member, supplier, and fellow business that has supported us. To wrap up our last few weeks trading, we are pricing our stock to clear, come in and get your favourites while stocks last.”
South Australian farmers Mark and Kate Wheal – also behind port brand Beachport Berkshires – opened the microbrewery in early 2022, in an old fish factory at the base of Beachport’s famed jetty.
The business used wheat and barley from the couple’s farm in their popular brews, which included lagers, dark, pale and brown ales, as well as a session ale and an XPA.
The brewery’s taproom was licensed for 100 people and featured more than 60m of beach frontage.
