A man has stripped to save a kangaroo from Port Noarlunga’s turbulent waters
A man is being recognised by the southern suburbs community for his selfless act after he jumped into the waters to rescue a roo. See more pics.
An unknown hero is being applauded by the southern suburbs community after the “legend” stripped off his clothes and jumped in the waters to save a bewildered kangaroo.
Anette Oakes took to Facebook’s Port Noarlunga/Seaford Community Group to sing the praises for the selfless man who saved the roo.
Ms Oakes said she personally witnessed the “surf rescue” on Friday morning.
“A frightened little roo got confused after bouncing into the construction area of the boardwalk at Port Noarlunga,” she wrote. “Then decided a swim would be a good idea. It wasn’t.”
Then Ms Oakes wrote she witnessed the man, who she described as “this legend” who “stripped down and jumped in to guide the roo back to safety”.
Ms Oakes said the kangaroo “was getting dunked and definitely needed a hand” to escape the treacherous waters.
Commenters on the post applauded the fit man – but also took the time to make tongue-in-cheek comments about the roo saviour.
Mel Kay wrote: “That man was a bloody hero. I was crying watching.”
While Sara Szarek said: “Looks like I’m heading to the beach tomorrow to pretend to drown.”
This sentiment was supported by Sacha Mclellan, who simply said “I identify as a roo”.
While another labelled the man “a legend with a six pack”.
And Danielle Louise pointed out, “There’s going to be a whole bunch of sunbathing ladies at the beach tomorrow morning.”
But everyone seemed to agree that the hero is a “legend” in his own right with one commenter summing up the courageous act with simply, “On ya Mate. What a good Aussie ledge. Jocks and all.”
