Shine Awards 2024: See the nominations so far
If you know an outstanding regional woman in your community that deserves to be recognised for their work, nominate them here before this Wednesday’s deadline, October 23.
Nominations for the 2024 Shine Awards are in full swing, with The Weekly Times and Harvey Norman striving to share and highlight the stories of outstanding regional women from across Australia.
From Western Australia’s Michelle Moriarty, who supports regional Australians through their grief after her own personal loss, to Victorian educator Claire Bibby, who has just celebrated a dozen years ensuring young people are “paddock ready” when entering the agriculture industry, there is no shortage of excellent and inspiring women in rural Australia.
There’s Jade Williams at Badgingarra, who has become the go-to person for getting things done and for providing new experiences for those in her community, as well as Shona Larkin and Angie Nisbet, sisters from Longreach who have developed a business to help tackle high rates of skin cancer among rural Australians.
Neither the tyranny of distance nor the challenges that come with being a mature-aged student could deter Tokasa Thompson from providing a critical resource for her Lord Howe Island community, while Tahirih McLeod is on a mission to revolutionise on-farm sentiment and tackle agricultural education head-on.
These are just some of the examples of our Shine nominations that have put a spotlight on hundreds of women and their accomplishments since 2017.
If you know a rural or regional woman who is making a real difference to her community or industry, shine a light on their incredible achievements using the nomination form below, or send an email to online@theweeklytimes.com.au.
