Sheepvention to go ahead in new format

Hamilton’s Sheepvention will go ahead in 2021 — but in a different, post-COVID way. Here are the committee’s plans.

ONE of Australia’s largest agricultural events, Hamilton’s Sheepvention, will be split in two this year, as COVID-19 continues to play havoc with event planning.

The Hamilton Pastoral and Agricultural Society committee decided to reformat the structure of the annual event to a sheep-focused event in August and a broader agriculture field day in October.

Sheepvention president, Kathryn Robertson said the August event would include a ram sale and trade exhibition while the October event would feature trade and machinery sites.

“The reason we have decided to run more than one event is due to number restrictions and density limits in place because of COVID,” she said.

“We hope to look at more events including some of our agricultural competitions and shows and something for our general indoor and food and wine traders later in the year.”

Dates and further information will be released this week.
