CLERMONT steer wrestler Jamie Reynolds will be one of the favourites for a rodeo at Biloela in Central Queensland on Saturday.

Reynolds is eighth in Australian Professional Rodeo Association standings and the third placed Queenslander.

Emerald rider Shane Kenny is third in the standings and will compete at Biloela.

The top Queensland steer wrestler at present is Ryley Gibb from Charters Towers who is second in the standings but has not nominated for Biloela.

There are 18 nominations for the steer wrestling at Biloela, including Lachlan O’Neill from Caboolture who was fourth in the Warwick Rodeo APRA National Finals last year.

The Callide Valley Show Rodeo has attracted 167 nominations across all eight championship events in the APRA.

Wandoan rider Cameron Webster is favourite for the saddle bronc with fellow Queenslander Jason Mara one to watch in the bull ride.

The most nominations are 29 in team roping and 21 in the ladies barrel race, including current all-round cowgirl title holder Ellysa Kenny from Emerald.

After this weekend, rodeo action will move to the Mackay Toyota Nebo Rodeo at the Nebo Undercover Arena on May 26. The Bundaberg Show Rodeo is on June 1 and the Moranbah Show Rodeo on June 2.

The next month is a great chance for Queenslanders to win prizemoney and build up points to qualify in the top 15 for the Warwick Rodeo APRA National Finals at the Warwick Showgrounds in late October.
