St Mary’s School assistant principal crowned Warwick’s favourite teacher | 2025
Warwick has crowned a humble primary teacher and assistant principal as their favourite in 2025. See the winner and runners up here.
The Warwick community has handed the favourite teacher crown to a beloved and respected member of the community.
For the past 16 years Sharon Young has been teaching students at St Mary’s School Warwick, where she takes great pride in her job and community.
“What I love about teaching is the joy I still receive from going to school every day. It is a privilege to be a teacher at St Mary’s School, where I am surrounded by an exceptional leadership and teaching team,” Ms Young said.
“We have a supportive community with parents who really care about having the best opportunities for their children. At our growing school, some of our families have been here for five generations so we have a wonderful link to history mixed with many new families to Warwick.”
Along with being assistant principal, Ms Young also teaches Religious Education and cherishes the belief and questions that come from those discussions.
“I love seeing our students learn and laugh every day. I love being able to create an environment where our students and staff can RISE UP – where together we can be respectful, inclusive, safe, exceptional, understanding and prayerful,” she said.
“I always say to our students that I have an important job – to make sure that they are safe and happy so they can do their best learning. Teaching is a vocation and I couldn’t think of anything I would rather do.”
Ms Young said it was a wonderful surprise and an honour to be names Warwick’s favourite teacher of 2025.
