Police have stormed a busy Toowoomba hotel, finding a gun and crystal meth, after tracking an alleged car thief. WATCH THE VIDEO
The Darling Downs tactical crime squad has intercepted an alleged criminal at a busy Toowoomba motel, finding a rifle and methamphetamine.
The 30-year-old man was arrested in a room at the Federal Hotel on April 14 and charged with a number of offences.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman said the car the man was travelling in had been stolen from a property 400km west of Toowoomba at Roma on March 25, 2025.
“At approximately 9.30pm officers from the Darling Downs District Tactical Crime Squad, executed a search warrant at a Geddes Street property seizing ammunition, 2 grams of methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia,” she said.
“Officers conducted a further search of the stolen vehicle where they located a .22 calibre rifle.
“Police allege the man stole the vehicle, a white Toyota HiLux, from an Airport Drive address in Roma.”
The man was charged with 11 crimes which included the unlawful possession of a gun, drug possession, unlawful use of a car, and using the incorrect number plate.
The man will appear before the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on May 13, when the matter will be heard for a mention.
