Residents’ terror as Peregian blaze forces evacuation
Terrified Peregian Beach residents have told how the drama unfolded as they were again forced from their homes this morning after another fire tore through their beachside suburb.
PEREGIAN Beach man Joseph Cooper was forced from his home this morning, alerted by fire calls and social media as a bush fire ripped through his suburb.
For the second time in two months, Peregian has been rocked by terrifying bush fires.

Residents were evacuated and parents were advised to leave their kids at home.
Mr Cooper said today’s fire was similar to the ones just a few short weeks back.
“It seems very similar in how quickly it has come up, just hope they can keep this one contained,” Mr Cooper said.
“It should help that stuff is already burnt out, but it seems a lot closer to home this time, where there are people living on the Coolum side.”
Mr Cooper said the response from emergency services had been fantastic and he believed they gained a lot of local knowledge from the September fires.
