Police charge man with serious weapons, drug offences after North Toowoomba raid
Police have dramatically arrested a man who allegedly fled to a popular high school, after a raid uncovered multiple guns and nearly a kilogram of meth. WATCH THE VIDEO
Michael Gregory Bethune has been remanded in custody charged with a raft of serious drug and weapon offences after he was arrested at a school bus stop.
Police will allege heavily armed officers from the Tactical Crime Squad raided a North Street address home early Thursday morning, February 27, looking for Mr Bethune but he escaped.
After a brief foot chase Mr Bethune was tracked to Toowoomba State High School and arrested about 10am.
A search of the property uncovered two .22 pistols, approximately 728 grams of methamphetamine, cash and stolen property including jewellery and a trailer.
The 35-year-old man has been charged with 12 offences including four drug offences, unlawful possession of weapons, possession of explosives, trespass and wilful damage.
Mr Bethune’s charges were briefly mentioned in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Friday where he was remanded in custody until May 2.
