AN AUSTRALIAN-first ride will launch visitors 11 stories high at 80km/h when Aussie World introduces its next attraction.

The SX360 will soon put the Coast on the map for having the nation’s biggest 360-degree swing.

Aussie World spokesman Tim James said park guests would soon be able to take a ride.

A date is yet to be set for the opening of SX360 which is part of the theme park’s plan to fill its 22ha site.

Mr James said the current Aussie World site was just more than 6ha, leaving a further 16ha yet to be used.

“So, as the Sunshine Coast grows, we plan on growing with it to continue to deliver for existing and new customers,” Mr James said.

“Aussie World in 15 years will be limited only by our imagination.”

In November the region’s most enduring tourism precinct will celebrate its 30th anniversary.

Since 2010 its annual visitor numbers have doubled and in the past six years at least eight new rides have been introduced.

“We will remain a household name of the Sunshine Coast by staying uniquely Australian but also by continuing to innovate and bring world class entertainment and enjoyment to the Sunshine Coast,” Mr James said.

“The redevelopment of the iconic pub at Aussie World on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast is also nearing completion and we are confident that it will again become one of Australia’s most memorable pub experiences.

“It would be hard to find another pub in Australia which could match its new look which features a broad range of Australian-themed zones and relaxed surroundings.”

The redevelopment already features a new beer garden, kitchen and menu, a lift to its top-level restaurant, wrap around balconies and an alfresco front veranda.

“We’re excited about what we have to offer the region and the tourism sector in the future at a time of rapid growth and opportunity,” Mr James said.
