An officer’s body worn camera footage has been shared after police busted a driver who allegedly returned a reading three times over the legal blood alcohol limit.

The footage of the incident in Urraween on Saturday was released on Wednesday.

According to a Queensland Police Service statement, officers were called to a location on Maryborough-Hervey Bay Road about 10.30am following reports the man appeared heavily intoxicated in a black Suzuki Swift.

Upon arrival, officers located the man inside the Suzuki where he was breath tested.

He allegedly returned a blood alcohol concentration result of .189.

A male officer is heard asking the man why he thought it was a smart idea to drive “down here”.

“You can’t be in control of a vehicle while intoxicated, you can’t even sit here with the engine on,” he said.

“You’ve already said to me you’ve been drinking this morning, you’ve been drinking while you’ve been sitting here.

“It’s a bit of a problem.”

The 51-year-old Toogoom man has since been charged with one count each of in charge UIL and driving of motor vehicle without a driver’s licence.

He was issued a notice to appear in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on June 16.
