Gordon Country calls out bad guest behaviour after hit-and-run

Farm animals is one of the drawcards at this South East Queensland camping area, but the owners have been forced to change the rules after a beloved donkey was killed by a guest.

The owners of a well-known family-owned tourist campground in the Southern Downs has been left heartbroken by the reckless actions of a guest.

Gordon Country Campground shared the devastating news that one of their beloved donkey’s was ran over and left for dead over the weekend.

“Unfortunately, one of our beloved donkeys was hit and killed due to reckless driving by a guest,” the owners posted on social medi.

“This Mumma donkey has left behind a beautiful little foal.

“The saddest part is that whom ever hit her did not stop nor inform anyone of the incident leaving her to die.”

Hundreds shared their condolences in the posts comments, equally devastated by the heartbreaking news.

“This is so heartbreaking how can someone do this to such loved animals, we love coming in to Gordon Country and finding all the different animals,” one user said.

“This is so sad, I am appalled to read this and am so sorry for your loss,” another user said.

It was also revealed there has been a significant increase in poor guest behaviour at the property, reporting harm to animals on the property, the use of gel blaster guns, reckless driving and threatening behaviour to other guests.

In a bid to prevent further incidents happening, the campground said they intend on increasing their rules to “keep it a safe place for everyone”.
