A SUNSHINE Coast resident has been left gobsmacked after she received a nasty tirade from a potential employer in response to an online job application.

Linda Volk was browsing through jobs on Seek when she came across a private advertisement for a delivery driver for an interior design business.

She was on the hunt for income for her family having recently being made redundant from her full-time job.

Within minutes of applying Linda saw the employer had viewed the application, and a few minutes after that she received an email she "definitely" didn't expect.

The email read: "Why the hell have you applied for a job of delivery driver? You have no experience. ZERO RELEVANT EXPERIENCE. The advertisement says ONLY APPLY IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE."

The email, that was signed off from "Seek Employer" with the automatic "Sent from my iPhone" signature, went on to accuse Linda of being a "lazy, jobless disgrace" and questioned whether she was "just fulfilling requirements so you can continue to collect the dole".

"I am a person that is hardworking and was applying for a job to make some more money," Linda said.

"To have that kind of response thrown back in my face was horrible."

Linda took to social media to share her disgust at the response, with hundreds of community members taking her side saying the response was "uncalled for".

"The words 'lazy, jobless disgrace' are how they ended the email to me," Linda said.

"It's hurtful, it's untrue and it's really not OK.

"They don't even know me or what I have been through in life, and they have thrown me into a stereotype because I applied for their job."

Linda said it was the only job she applied for recently.

As a current delivery driver for a pizza business in Noosa Heads on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, she said she thought she would make a great candidate.

"The ad also said they wanted the applicant to be a manager of the warehouse, and I have management experience too," she said.

Linda said she wouldn't have liked to see the reaction if someone not so strong was on the receiving end.

"I'm a strong person, but if it was someone that was really struggling and had been trying to get a job for ages and was having no luck, if they were fragile, and got that response, it probably wouldn't' have ended very well at all," she said.
