A woman was confronted with a terrifying situation when she was attacked during an attempted carjacking in an underground carpark on the Darling Downs.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said about 2.45pm on Thursday, July 17, the 24-year-old woman was assaulted in Warwick by an unknown man who was attempting to steal her car.

She said during the assault on Palmerin St, the woman suffered facial and head injuries, however she managed to escape.

“The woman managed to get into her vehicle and drove to a nearby police station for assistance,” the statement said.

The spokeswoman said the young woman was taken to Warwick Hospital for treatment.

“Detectives from the Warwick Criminal Investigation Branch are seeking public assistance to identify a man who may be able to assist them with their investigation,” she said.

“(He’s) described as caucasian, approximately 180cm tall with a medium build and was wearing dark blue jeans, a blue or green shirt, black jacket and white shoes with black stripes,”.
