Beefy’s State of Origin pie drive with fill you with state pride

Baked-on Maroons supporters can show their state pride and raise much-needed dough for a children’s charity.

Iconic Queensland bakery Beefy’s is serving up interstate rivalry, hot and fresh and in time for the State of Origin.

From Monday, hungry footy fans can tuck into Beefy’s limited edition Steak vs. Steak range, with each pie branded with ‘Qld’ or ‘NSW’.

Through the three-game series the company will record the number of pies sold for each team and announce a winner.

While a great way to fan the flames of competition, Beefy’s will also donate $1 to children’s health charity Give Me 5 for each pie sold.

Beefy’s general manager and proud Queenslander Jason Lyons said that last year the company donated $25,000 and was looking to do better this year.

“We know Aussies love a good pie, especially a Beefy’s pie, and there’s no better way to back your state and support a great cause at the same time,” he said.

The Steak vs. Steak pies are 20 per cent bigger than a standard Beefy’s pie and are available at stores in Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Ballina.

Select stores will be open late on game nights.

Beefy’s, a Queensland institution, opening its first store at the Sunshine Coast in 1997 and spread to sites across South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales.
