Six Northern Territory businesses have claimed victory in Telstra’s Best of Business Awards, with entries hitting record levels across the region.
All state winners participated in a rigorous judging process to uncover which businesses were making the most impact.
Judging criteria included economic sustainability, operational effectiveness and technology adoption, progressive leadership and culture, and social and community contribution.
Ray Pratt, founder of Dice (Aust) which provides commercial building, electrical, and smart energy solutions across the Northern Territory, said winning the Indigenous Excellence category felt special.
“This isn’t just an overnight thing; this is 21 years in the making for us,” he said.
“So to be getting recognised now in business is exciting for us. It’s taken a long time to get where we’re at, and having this recognition is special.
He said the company felt “proud” to win the award.
“As a 100 per cent Aboriginal owned and operated company, it gives us great pleasure to be recognised for what we do.
“We’d like to recognise and thank everyone that has helped us get here. We’re nothing without the team,” he said.
“It’s also our family and community support around us. That is what makes the business.
“We’re really thankful towards Telstra for giving us this opportunity and platform to tell our story.”
Lindsay O’Hea of Dice (Aust) said while the business didn’t necessarily “expect” to win, there was an “air of confidence” after the final stage of judging.
“Following the interviews, we did leave highly confident,” he said.
“Dice is confident in what we do. Anything we say that we do, we make sure we back up with our actions.
Telstra also unveiled several other Northern Territory winners for the 2025 Telstra Best of Business Awards.
BEME Movement Education were winners in the Accelerating Women; Saltbush Social Enterprises in Building Communities; Pathfinders NT in Championing Health; Practical Risk Solutions NT; and Stedman’s Construction and Engineering in Outstanding Growth.
With entries up by 57 per cent in the Northern Territory, Telstra Business Group executive Amanda Hutton said this year’s program highlighted the growth of innovative change makers, who are helping to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs.
“Being named a State Winner in the Telstra Best of Business Awards is a significant achievement, and we hope this recognition gives each business a well-earned moment in the spotlight to celebrate their success,” she said.
Northern Territory winners of the 2025 Telstra Best of Business Awards will be invited to Brisbane to network, take part in educational masterclasses and participate in the national judging process, followed by a gala dinner celebration where the national winners and the Business of the Year will be revealed on November 20.
