World MotoGP champion Jack Miller is the new owner of a luxurious acreage house in North Queensland after his parents placed the winning bid.

Sources at the Townsville auction said Peter and Sonya Miller, who own a neighbouring property on almost 47 hectares, beat out the competition for the Gumlow property with the winning bid.

Miller, 26, was born and raised in Townsville, and it was there his love of the fast-paced motorsport was fostered.

The Ducati rider recently competed in MotoGP’s Austrian Grand Prix and was not at the auction but was believed to be on the phone.

The rumour mill has been in overdrive for several weeks that Miller had his eye on the property prize.

M Property agent Martin McDonough, who marketed Pinnacle Springs at Gumlow, said the former turf farm on 40 acres had attracted plenty of attention from well-heeled buyers.

He said there were three bidders registered for the auction, and the winning bid was $1.4 million. The auction was held at 5.30pm.

“Amazing result,” he said.

The property has a massive 575sq m of under roof living space, a kingsize master suite, a professional office, three outdoor living areas, an infinity edge pool, a huge shed and “room for a football/cricket field or motocross track”.

At the time of listing, Mr McDonough said there had been interest from landowners, medical professionals and real estate agency principals.

“It is special,” he said at the time.

The property has four bedrooms in total, two bathrooms and accommodation for four vehicles.

The statement red kitchen offers two-way access in addition to bi-fold windows with a large servery bar connecting to the outdoor deck.

It has three sinks, two pullout pantry’s, ample of storage space, granite benchtops, dual ovens, chefs cook top and a hidden appliance cupboard.

Outside, the 164sq m timber deck is positioned to capture the easterly breezes along with the views.
