Looking to move back to Rockhampton from Brisbane, an on call Emergency Department nurse was worried that buying in Rockyview would be too far out of town for work.

However, upon learning an on-call anaesthetist who also worked at Rockhampton Hospital lived next door and a doctor up the road, the woman and her partner decided to purchase an architecturally designed property on Bunya Road for $915,000.

The property at 28-36 Bunya Road, Rockyview, sold through LJ Hooker Rockhampton on August 10.

This is the second time the property was on the market in 41 years.

Sales Consultant Gavin Jenkins said the property, which was first listed for $1.15 million, started to see a lot of interest after it went under the million-dollar mark.

“We had multiple offers on it,” Mr Jenkins said.

He said the buyer was familiar with the property and had a special connection to it.

“That lady had a connection to the property from her early years when she was younger,” he said.

“She is transferring back to Rockhampton to work in Rockhampton Hospital’s Emergency Department.

“Once they get that four-lane highway fully finished it will be easier to get back into Rocky.”

He said the previous owners had lived at the property for more than 20 years and were looking for a coastal shift.

“That family grew up there, they were the second owners of that property,” he said.

“Now that all their kids are off their hands, they thought it was time to do a move and they always wanted to move to the coast at some stage.

“They have an offer on a property at Taranganba.”

The property is positioned on a 2.03ha block and boasts five bedrooms and three bathrooms over two storeys.

The property was architecturally designed and constructed of tumbled cavity brick with expansive timber raked ceilings.

“It’s one of the properties you go to and you feel like you’re not in Rocky.”
