Mooloolah Island mansion sets real estate record in multimillion dollar sale

A multimillion dollar sale of a Mooloolah Island home to a “successful” family set a new record for the island, a trend the agent involved in the deal expects to continue.

A “successful” southeast Queensland family has snapped up a Sunshine Coast waterfront home that’s broken the record sale price for the prestigious island.

The six-bedroom, six-bathroom home at 13 Mooloolah Island in Minyama settled in late June to be used as a holiday home for its new owners.

G1 Property principal Simon Guilfoyle said the $5,500,000 sale was a record for the island, which was confirmed by CoreLogic data.

The data showed it surpassed the previous record of $5,150,000 which was set in June 2018.

“The lady who owned it has multiple properties in the southeast in her portfolio and didn’t require it,” Mr Guilfoyle said.

He said it was purchased by a private but “successful” southeast Queensland family.

The luxury home comes with at least 40m of waterfront and has deep water access.

It sits on more than 1000sq m.

“It was a new build too, 2013 and just sublime with all its finishes,” he said.

“The new owners went through with a fine-tooth comb and were clearly very satisfied.”

Mr Guilfoyle said Mooloolah and Minyama islands were prime property real estate which hadn’t reached their peak compared to Noosa and northern counterparts.

He said Mooloolah Island was a bit of a bridesmaid to Minyama Island, which was home to powerhouses from sporting legends and developers to the heads of agricultural and technological empires.

“Sales like this bodes well for the future,” he said.

“Where else can you get big blocks, deep water access to part your 60-foot toy in the backyard near the harbour?

“The deep water access is unbeatable.”
