Noonamah Tavern Rodeo returns for 2024 Dry Season
Thousands flocked to the famous Noonamah Tavern Rodeo at the weekend for a night of entertaining action. See all the results and photos.
The Noonamah Tavern Rodeo was back with a bang at the weekend, with punters from far and wide descending on the dirt south of Darwin.
From entrants as young as seven tackling the barrels to and vets coming out of an 11-year hiatus, the first round of the 2024 competition was on for young and old, and while TDM Bucking Bull’s feature bull ‘Night Stalker’ retained his unridden title, Ben Curriez came agonisingly close with an impressive 7.41sec effort.
“The night was fantastic and we managed to wrap things up in good time too which is always nice,” TDM owner Darcy McBean said.
“Fortunately none of the riders came away with any really serious injuries.
“And even though we didn’t have anyone make the full eight (seconds), Ben Curriez was definitely the rider of the night and was very impressive, and young Noah Dingle who came up from Victoria was brilliant also, especially as a young 15-year-old.”
The next Noonamah Tavern Rodeo will be on August 31, and all the competitors will be back to stake their claim for the championship buckle.
