New details about Nicole Kidman and Salma Hayek’s awkward red carpet encounter revealed

An insider has a surprising revelation about the icy encounter between Nicole Kidman and Salma Hayek on the red carpet.

Nicole Kidman and Salma Hayek have “no bad blood”, despite the pair having a tense moment at the Balenciaga show during Paris Fashion Week.

The apparent tense interaction between the two Hollywood A-listers occurred last month, but resurfaced over the weekend on social media.

In the video, Hayek, 58, used her arm and hand to try to turn Kidman, 57, towards the cameras after they took a group picture with Katy Perry on September 30.

But Kidman, in dark glasses, removes Hayek’s hand from her arm away and appears to ignore the photographers before turning her attention towards Perry, 39, who arrived dressed in black and wearing wrap-around shades.

Hayek, whose husband François-Henri Pinault owns Balenciaga, had a tense and worried look on her face after the awkward encounter with Kidman, who towers over her, and who is a brand ambassador for the fashion label.

After greeting Perry, Kidman briefly tossed a few words to Hayek, who seemed agitated and disappointed about something.

As she snapped pictures with Perry, the Frida actress, director and producer could be heard telling Kidman, “Yes please. Advice.”

“You don’t need it,” Kidman responded from off-camera.

“I do,” Hayek said back.

A representative for Kidman has been approached by this masthead for comment.

A source told Page Six that “there’s no bad blood between” the actresses, who “adore each other.”

Another source at the event also told People: “They were being bombarded by cameras at the end of the show while in the middle of a conversation.”

A lip reader also weighed into the icy encounter.

“Let’s turn there, OK, here,” Hayek is believed to have said to Kidman, according to UK-based expert witness and forensic lip reader Jeremy Freeman.

Freeman said the Aussie Oscar-winner then responded, “Hey, I’m fine, I’m good. There, it’s enough, it’s OK.”

Hayek then interjected, beginning to say, “We have to…,” before putting her hand on Perry’s shoulder.

Freeman told Page Six that Hayek then said, “That’s fine, that’s fine,” and directed 39-year-old Perry to look at the photographers.

Website TMZ had a different take on the tense exchange: “A source with direct knowledge tells TMZ ... there’s no beef between the women - the clip takes place after the show ended and Nicole Kidman was just trying to leave.”

The day after the incident, Hayek shared a photo with Kidman at the Balenciaga show.

In the picture, Kidman stared at the floor with a smile on her face as she posed next to Salma, who looked right at the camera.

Hayek’s post also included photos of her with Perry and Lindsay Lohan, as well as several solo shots where she showed off her all-black ensemble.

Hayek tagged @katyperry @lindsaylohan and @nicolekidman last.

Kidman attended Paris Fashion Week just weeks after her mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, passed away at age 84.

The fashion event marked the actress’ first public appearance since her mother’s sudden death last month.

The “Big Little Lies” star and producer left the Venice Film Festival early at the beginning of September because of her mum’s death.

Kidman later released a statement on Instagram and thanked fans for “the outpouring of love and kindness” that they showed the actress and her sister, Antonia.

“Every message we have received from those who loved and admired our Mother has meant more to us than we will ever be able to express,” Kidman wrote. “Thank you from our whole family for respecting our privacy as we take care of each other.”
